With Movie: Stardust

There are divided into two lands, human and magical land

The earth is compartmentalized into a man’s world and wizard’s world with a stone wall. There is a man who has been living in the man’s world and he returns to his world after he made love with a girl who was enchanted over the stone wall. After he comes back, he lives a normal life for about nine months and then he receives a newborn baby with a memo named Tristan. The baby grows up and lives as a store clerk.

Along the way, a mysterious star falls down on the ground of the wizard’s world. In the middle of confession for his first love, Victoria, played by Sienna Miller, he promises that he brings that fallen star to get her heart. He starts travel to another world, and he accidently runs into his mother. She gives him a few magic candles which can protect him against falling under a spell. Though he fails to pass the stone wall which also had once been crossed by his father due to a door keeper at first, he finally crosses the stone wall owing to magic candles which have power to send him to everywhere.

At last, he finds the star woman, Yvaine, played by Claire Danes, and he makes a long trip to come back to man’s world with Yvaine. But a lot of threats are waiting for them, such as witches who are trying to recover their young beauty with Yvaine’s heart, and Stormhold’s princes who need Yvaine’s necklace in order to be a king of Stormhold. In spite of all these kinds of dangers, they go through everything together and they fall in love. Eventually, Tristan saves his mother, who is captured by witches, and later he becomes the king of Stormhold.

As you read above, this movie is a kind of fantasy movie which is based on a best-selling English novel like ‘The Lord of Rings’, ‘Harry Potter’, and so forth. I thought this movie paid attention to splendid adventures, as well as good casting that fits the various characters that appeared in the original novel. Above all, Michelle Pfeiffer was focused most by playing the wicked witch, whose appearance changes over hundreds of years. This movie is distinguished by its complex components mixed like fantasy, magic, adventure, humor, and romance. Besides, this movie sends a message that there’s no boundary between the real world and ideal world, just a little fence.
